Buckle up, the Martine Rose x Nike Air Monarch is dropping soon

Martine Rose puts her own twist on the popular Air Monarch IV.

The Martine Rose x Nike Air Monarch was exclusively sold on Craigslist in London last month.

The Nike Air Monarch is THE ultimate dad shoe. There is no debate about that. Chunky, with a simple design and colors, and an affordable price tag. Now, British designer Martine Rose has taken the bland sneaker and spiced it up.

The Martine Rose x Nike Air Monarch IV is part of the capsule collection between Rose and the swoosh. While an earlier release was only available through Craigslist in London, we will now have a chance to cop the sneakers ourselves. The sneakers will be available in three colorways: all-pink, all-black, and blue and white, with the first two having patent leather uppers and natural leather for the latter.

At first glance, the sneaker’s upper seems cartoonishly deformed. The sneaker looks as if they forced a size 15 upper onto a size 8 midsole, with protrusions all around. This definitely makes the Martine Rose x Nike Air Monarch one of the most eye-catching releases of the year. The Nike branding is subtle, with tonal swooshes on both the black and pink iterations while the white and blue has a classic contrasting swoosh. Martine Rose’s signature is just above the swoosh on the lateral side. To finish off, the normal Air Monarch insoles are co-branded with the British designer’s signature.

The Martine Rose x Nike Air Monarch will be released on Nike.com (SG) on January 12. There is no news on a local retail price yet but this collaboration will see the most expensive price tag on an Air Monarch yet. Watch this space for updates.
