The late Muhammad Ali’s last series of photos showed the world that despite suffering from Parkinson’s disease, the champion still had his fiery spirit.
After a 32-year battle with Parkinson’s disease, Muhammad Ali, the fighter with a fearsome reputation, passed away at the age of 74 on Saturday.
According to Daily Mail, British photographer Zenon Texeira was invited to Ali’s home in Phoenix, Arizona near the end of March, where he captured a series of haunting yet captivating portraits of Ali.
The photos show honest, heart-wrenching and confrontational closeups of the aged Ali. But the moment Ali put on his fighting stance and shades, it seemed as if the enigma who took the boxing world by storm back in the day had returned, if only for a brief moment.
Parkinson’s may have silenced the once loud-mouthed boxing champion, but his legacy will live on. As one of the most influential and iconic athletes of all time, Muhammad Ali will be greatly missed.
