The New Balance 990v6 will arrive sometime this year. The kicks were first teased by Teddy Santis, the founder of Aime Leon Dore and creative director of New Balance’s Made in USA line. He posted an image of him holding the sneaker with the caption “990 V6 for 2022. @Newbalance”.

The 990v6 is constructed with mesh and a mix of suede on the upper. The suede is applied to the lacing system and sole unit. There are reflective elements that can be found on the “N” lettermark and below the collar. To complement the reflective elements, metallic finishing is applied to the 990 logos at the rear of the sneaker and on the tongue’s branding while the V6 is done in a curvy font in red.

The New Balance 990v6 midsole gets a complete revamp. New Balance has given the sneaker a chunkier, textured midsole with a much taller stack height. In terms of design, the forefoot is given much smoother lines while the grey Encap heel sports more aggressive, sharper lines.

This is the brand’s sixth iteration of the sneaker. Recently, New Balance commemorated the 40th anniversary of the 990 silhouettes and Kith was roped in to design four sneakers in celebration of the milestone.
