Dubbed the most tested shoe in history, the Nike Adapt BB was the first basketball shoe to incorporate FitAdapt tech, a lacing system that electronically adjusts to the shape of your foot. The Adapt BB 2.0 is the follow-up to the predecessor.
First of all, why’s this adjustment in fit necessary? According to Nike, over the course of a basketball game, the foot can expand almost a half-size during play. A fit that feels comfortable at one point might feel constrictive just 24 minutes later. The Nike Adapt BB 2.0 is the response to a moving target where it comes to achieving the “perfect fit” in basketball shoes.
How does the Adapt BB 2.0 work?
There are two ways to wear these shoes.
You can take advantage of fit settings available on the Nike Adapt app on a smartphone, depending on which moment of a game you’re in. For example, during during a timeout, a player can choose to loosen the shoe before tightening it up as they re-enter the game.
The Nike Adapt BB 2.0 can also be laced up with the manual touch of a button, which allows you to tighten or loosen the fit accordingly.
What’s new in the 2.0?
According to Nike, the 2.0 comes with a noticeable bounce underfoot — in addition to cushioning that was already present in the first iteration.
Nike also worked on improving the transition from heel to toe while moving and the ease of entry into the shoe by removing the Flyknit shroud and opening up the collar.
Where can I get these?
