The thought of self-lacing sneakers drove people wild back in 1989 thanks to Marty McFly’s Nike kicks in Back to the Future II. While the 2011 replica set tongues wagging, it was the 2016 Nike Air Mag release with power lacing that finally turned fantasy into reality. Fast forward to 2018 and we saw the technology developed on a performance sneaker – the HyperAdapt. And finally this year, the all-new Nike Adapt BB – a self-lacing basketball sneaker – made its debut.
With the upcoming Nike Adapt BB Wolf Grey colorway, the brand celebrates its revolutionary technology while paying homage to the Nike Air Mag – the sneaker that started it all – by incorporating its original colors. WNBA player A’ja Wilson gave an on-feet preview of the sneaker at a preseason game last weekend. Coming in light grey uppers and an icy blue outsole, the sneaker also features a speckled midsole and a characteristic row of light-up circles on the ankle collar in red, yellow, green and blue.
The Nike Adapt BB Wolf Grey drops May 29 via SNKRS; however, it will only be available in North America.
