We’re only three weeks into a new decade, but Nike is looking to take us further into the future with the all-new Air Max 2090. The footwear giant has a penchant for introducing newly-designed Air Max models that are both big on Air and heritage at the start of the year. 2018 saw the launch of the revolutionary Air Max 270. And in 2019, Nike raised the stakes even higher with the Air Max 720 – the sneaker with the tallest Air unit.
This year, it’s all about celebrating an icon. The Air Max 2090, after all, takes on the DNA of the iconic cult favorite Air Max 90, which turns 30 in 2020. This new iteration sees the classic sneaker repackaged with modern performance and futuristic style elements while still maintaining the familiar look which has stood the test of time for the past 30 years. The mudguards, heel logos, and the unmistakable Air unit remain albeit with upgrades to match the cutting edge new silhouette.
Undoubtedly, all eyes will be on the upgraded Air unit with Nike treading carefully here to not lose the ethos of the original model. But you can truly expect superior comfort thanks to the larger Air unit. For longtime fans of the Air Max line who crave for more Air, these would likely be a desirable feature along with the 200% larger window on the side of the Air unit.
The Nike Air Max 2090 is slated to debut sometime in Spring 2020 on Nike.com. Keep tabs on this page for more details on the release soon.
