The Nike React Vision has been popping up on our feeds and the SNKRS site for a while now. The sneaker is the successor to the incredibly popular Element 87. Beyond having the same React midsole, the sneakers share other similarities in terms of design and influence.
Both sneakers are part of Nike’s sportswear line-up – a merger between fashion and sportswear technology. The Nike React Vision features the same exaggerated tooling on its outsole and also sports the same protruding lugs as seen in the React Element 87. However, things change as we move to the uppers.
Instead of using the rip-stop like material on the upper as seen on the React Element 87, the React Vision comes with a fabric upper. This is constructed with two layers – a see-through mesh and a fabric liner that help add a pop of color.
The fabric liner gives the sneaker the illusion of a retro color blocking. Upfront, there is a “toe box” and at the sides are “midfoot panels”. A nod to classic Nike sneakers like the Air Span II and Internationalist. Other retro touches include the stuffed tongue and heel tab.
The most striking feature on this sneaker can be found on its heel – the protruding heel counter. Besides acting as the heel clip for added stability, the heel counter adds an edgier, futuristic touch to the sneaker. Fuse those design elements with the organic pattern on the outsole and multi-layered upper, you have a sneaker that belongs in the future but is inspired by the past.
The Nike React Vision now comes in a whole range of colorways and retails for S$209. You can cop a pair at Nike.com.
