Through the courses, students are taught the basics of gameplay, conversational English, as well as skills and techniques from pro gamers. They’ll also be exposed to popular games such as League of Legends and Overwatch.
All lessons are held in gaming classrooms fully furnished with state-of-the-art gaming platforms (image below). The school also offers club activities fit for otakus, through its cosplay club and anime song video club.
Special seminars and tournaments
The Tokyo School of Anime also organizes special seminars that are led by industry experts. One such was when Jason Chayes, the production director for Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, stopped by the school.
Through the school, budding esports athletes are also given the opportunity to apply their skills by participating in overseas gaming tournaments. For example, a group of students took part the 2017 League of Legends International College Cup tournament held in China in July 2017.
Foreign students may apply
To enrol in the Tokyo School of Anime, foreign students must have studied the Japanese Language for six months at a program approved by the Japan Ministry of Justice. Other requirements include sitting for a Japanese Language test and a university admission exam.
