The Neely “Air Roland TR-808: Disturb the Peace” Adidas shoes represents the best of urban culture.
Dubbed the Neely “Air Roland TR-808: Disturb the Peace”, the sneakers feature volume control and six different pre-programmed settings to make music production easier. Other interesting features include a speaker, a USB port, wi-fi, and a built-in bluetooth function.
Technology aside, the shoes take cues from the appearance of the iconic Roland TR-808 drum machine. Consequently, the unique footwear features a large Roland logo on its heel and a velcro strap bearing the words “TR-808”.
According to Consequence of Sound, the Roland TR-808 drum machine is responsible for the origins of hip-hop in the 1980s. Additionally, “808” is the police code for disturbing the peace.
Cool as the shoes may be, the sneakers will not be hitting the production line anytime soon. The prototype sneakers were custom made specifically for the “Just for Kicks” creative challenge.
