Instagram is the platform of choice these days to share images of the things people are passionate about. Sneakerheads, for one, love flexing their precious kicks on the photo-sharing app. But sneaker photography isn’t simply about pointing and shooting. It takes skill and creativity to capture the beauty of sneakers in its full glory and to even convey the design inspiration behind it.
To demystify sneaker photography, The Social Foot, with the support of Canon Singapore organized RAW, a sneaker photography workshop led by Singaporean street style photographer Tim Suen (@timsuen). Eejin (@parag0n), another street style photographer from the RAW campaign, was also on hand to provide additional tips.
Following an hour’s demonstration of tips and tricks to a crowd of about 65 eager participants, the participants were given an on-the-spot photography assignment to put their newfound skills to the test.
The overall winner of the assignment, @sciberrasluke (see entry below) walked away with a Canon PowerShot G7X Mark II (worth S$799) courtesy of Canon Singapore, while the three runners-up @krissyuh, @jpbarandon, and @bai_ren walked away with S$300 shopping vouchers from The Social Foot.
But all who took part in the sneaker photography workshop were winners. After taking in expert advice and putting it to test, perhaps the next big thing in the sneaker photography scene was in our midst at RAW last Saturday, who knows?
RAW, the sneaker photography workshop, was conceptualized and created by Straatosphere for The Social Foot. Special thanks to Canon Singapore for the sponsorship and Funan Showsuite for the venue partnership.
