Steve Van Doren Donates 5,000 Pairs of Sneakers to Hurricane Harvey Relief

Vans Vice-President Steve Van Doren donated shoes and supplies to Hurricane Harvey victims.

Steve Van Doren personally handed out 5,000 pairs of shoes, 5,000 pairs of socks, and 4,000 t-shirts to those affected by Hurricane Harvey in Texas.

Kevin Lyman, a producer for Vans’ Warped tour broke the news on on Twitter on September 7.

In addition to shoes, socks, and tees, Vans also gave Hurricane Harvey victims hats with the words “stay strong”. An image of the hat’s design can be seen here.

In a statement to The Source, Van Doren described Vans’ interest in helping as something the brand has always been interested in.

“Vans has always been about people helping people. We may be based in California, but I want to be in Texas to hand out shoes, socks, and shirts to anyone who may be in need of dry clothes,” says Van Doren. “I know there are so many people in need, and I just want people to know that Vans and I give a shit,” he continued.

The brand concluded its charitable act with a US$50,000 donation to the Red Cross.
