Vampire Weekend – Modern Vampires of the City
Scheduled Release: 13 May 2013
Modern Vampires of the City is the third album by American indie rock band Vampire Weekend, more than 3 years after the release of their previous album, Contra. The title of the album is a reference to the opening lyric of the Reggae song “One Blood” by Junior Reed. Lead singer Koenig described the upcoming album as “darker and more organic”, citing New York City at night as inspiration for the new sound. Fittingly, the album cover art is a 1966 photograph by Neal Boenzi of the haziest day in New York City history, on which the air pollution killed at least 169 people.
