UFC Champion Jon Jones Fails Drug Test Again, Might be Stripped of Title

Controversial UFC champion Jon Jones could be stripped of his crown once more after failing yet another drug test.

Is this the end of Jon Jones’ MMA career?

UFC champion Jon Jones tested positive for Turinabol, an anabolic steroid, in his UFC 214 victory over Daniel Cormier.

According to TMZ, Jones will undergo a disciplinary hearing to determine if he will be stripped of his UFC Light Heavyweight Championship. If that happens, his fight with Cormier will be awarded a “no contest” and the title will return to the former Olympic wrestler.

This is the second time that Jones has failed a drug test. He was banned for one-year after testing positive for illegal substances in 2016.

Because this is his second offense, Jones could be looking at a ban for up to four years.

“We are all at a complete loss for words right now,” said a representative of Jones in a statement. “Jon, his trainers, his nutritionists and his entire camp have worked tirelessly and meticulously the past 12 months to avoid this exact situation.”

UFC chief Dana White believes that a two or three-year ban could be the end of Jones’ UFC career.

“How old is he, 30? That would keep him out to 32 or 33 and then you will look back at what he could have done. It’s sad.”
