Footwear drops: Runners reign in this week’s sneaker releases

This week, Nike drops two sneakers, each a different interpretation of the “Volt” colorway.

Adidas finally gives us the Yeezy Boost 350 V2 “Zyon” and Asics puts a street style spin on their latest performance runner.

Nike Zoom Double Stacked “Volt Black”
July 16

Zoom Air is one of Nike’s most trusted cushioning technologies and has been used in a long list of performance running sneakers. However, unlike most of Nike’s Zoom Air line up, the Zoom Double Stacked prioritizes comfort over performance. As its name suggests, the Zoom Air units are double stacked under the heel for impact projection while two more are placed at the forefoot for energy return. To emphasize this brand new implementation of Zoom Air, Nike has given the Zoom Double Stacked a futuristic design and a triple black colorway that highlights the placement of the “Volt” air units.

Nike Air Jordan 11 Retro Low IE
July 16

Known as the thrifty man’s Jordan, the Air Jordan 11 Retro Low IE, which first debuted in 1996, offers the same tech and performance of the AJ11, all at a lower price point. For its 2020 comeback, it pays homage to its ’96 predecessors by way of a black leather base from the OG “Bred” colorway and the grey elephant leather panels from the AJ 11 Low IE “Cobalt”. To match the black and grey color scheme, the sneaker comes with a grey leather tongue with a red embroidered Jumpman logo.
