Zack Snyder Steps Down from “Justice League”, Joss Whedon to Take Over

American filmmaker Zack Snyder is stepping down from the Justice League movie to deal with a family tragedy.

Avengers’ Joss Whedon is taking over directing duties for the Warner Bros. film, which is currently in post-production.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Zack Snyder is stepping down from the DC movie to focus on family, and to deal with the death of his daughter, Autumn, who died earlier in March this year.

Joss Whedon, who is also directing a standalone Batgirl movie for Warner Bros., will be taking over Snyder’s duties during this difficult time.

“In my mind, I thought it was a cathartic thing to go back to work, to just bury myself and see if that was way through it,” Snyder said in an interview. “The demands of this job are pretty intense. It is all consuming. And in the last two months, I’ve come to the realization … I’ve decided to take a step back from the movie to be with my family, be with my kids, who really need me. They are all having a hard time. I’m having a hard time.”
