Zhang Yi Xing is the latest celebrity to join the Converse family.
According to Converse, Yi Xing embodies the One Star spirit with his daring nature and constant movement through creative expression.
A member of the South Korean-Chinese boy group Exo, Yi Xing is one of China’s most popular role models. In fact, he has over 25 million fans following him on Weibo.
“I’ve always really liked Converse,” said Yi Xing in a statement. “So it is quite amazing to be able to share the spirit of the sneaker, because I’ve loved it since I was young, and now I can be the one wearing it.”
The One Star, created originally as a basketball sneaker in 1974, has over time proven popular in other spheres of subculture, especially among skaters, punks, and artists.
In the latest One Star lookbook (see above), Yi Xing sports an updated silhouette of the shoe, which now comes in new materials and colors.
Upcoming collaborations are also in the works and they are expected to launch in August and September this year.
With his appointment as brand Ambassador, Yi Xing joins other Converse collaborators like Miley Cyrus and Tyler, the Creator.
