It has been a year since Adidas first unveiled its workout mask. Now into its second iteration, the 2021 Adidas face mask features new updates that make the mask more comfortable, breathable and durable. Here’s our review.
Our first review of the Adidas face mask: Sportswear face mask review: Which brand to buy
Fit: The elastic construction of the mask gives it a more form-fitted look when worn. The mask fits snugly so be sure to get the correct size so that the mask perfectly hugs your face from your nose bridge to the chin. Added reinforcements around the cheek and nose bridge should prevent it from stretching out with use, but expect the ear bands to loosen with time.
Aesthetic: The overall look of the 2021 Adidas face mask is similar to its predecessor, which was just as minimalist. What’s different about the 2021 model is the threading down the middle which divides the mask in two halves and gives it a little more structure. Together with a more angular nose bridge, this 2021 version forms a nice shape when worn.
Comfort: At first, the mask can be a tad bit uncomfortable to wear. The threading on the reinforced nose bridge and cheek area tends to rub up against your skin, creating a little bit of discomfort. The elastic bands are very stretchy but that means it does cut into your ears after prolonged use. However, with a few wears and washes, you can expect it to get more comfortable. And so again, selecting the right size, as mentioned above, is key.
Breathability has improved significantly. This upgrade can be attributed to the threading down the middle of the mask. It gives the mask more structure which prevents the mask from getting sucked in when you take a deep breath. If you choose to wear a mask when working out, this is a good option especially for lifting weights or running.
Conclusion: The 2021 Adidas face mask is a significant improvement on the 2020 variant. If you love the sleek look of its predecessor, this offers a similar aesthetic but with added breathability, making it a great mask for workouts.
