5 Tracks for This Week’s Grind: Grumby, N’to, Röyksopp, Neck & More

We’ve put together a neat little playlist for you to shimmy about this week. Holidays are nearing and there’s no better way to get in the mood than bumpin’ and grindin’ to some good tunes.

1) Grumby feat. Hari Mint, “Refuse”

This track makes for a perfect segue into an chill night spent with your mates (preferably with some booze). The clean synth takes you on a pleasurable experience with the strings unfurling into a titillating mix of piano and bass. The heady vocals come from the talented Hari Mint, who provides his throaty timbre to this alt-R&B jam.

2) N’to, “Scar Tissue”

Red Hot Chili Peppers purists will probably hate the vocals on this track, but we’ve got to admit that this is a pretty spiffy remix. N’to has taken it upon himself to rework the music in a way that doesn’t overwhelm the listeners, with low-key beats and subtle funk undertones that makes this suitable for any lazy day.

3) Röyksopp & Susanne Sundfør, “Running To The Sea”

After listening to this polished track, would it surprise you to know that it was written and recorded in just two days? This song is a beautiful build-up of aural momentum, with the clever synth and choral chanting, all led by Susanne’s haunting voice that holds the right amount of depth to let the rest of the song flow around it.

4) Neck, “Coffee”

Justin Bieber’s “What Do You Mean” was quite the hit, but this remix won’t disappoint either. The track kicks it up a notch by retaining Bieber’s raspy vocals and adding jazz interludes which interweave across the length of the song. This isn’t your typical fuccboi shit, this one’s definitely for the grown-ups.

5) Frances, “Grow (The Jane Doze Bootleg)”

This is another remix we can totally get behind. While the original is a dreamy ballad that’s sure to keep you hooked for hours, this rework is an endless loop of vocals that lulls you into a trance much like a post-lunch snooze. Some might have mixed reviews about the downtuning of the vocals but we feel that it totally works in keeping the hypnotizing wavy vibe. Let us know your thoughts!
