Size? dips into the Adidas Originals archive to give us the Kegler Super ‘Red/Yellow’

The Adidas Originals Archive Kegler Super ‘Red/Yellow’ is a Size? exclusive.

The Adidas Originals Archive Kegler Super ‘Red/Yellow’ was a Japan-exclusive

The Adidas Originals Kegler ‘Yellow/Red’ was a colorway made exclusive to Japan upon its initial release in the late ’80s/early ’90s. This Friday, March 1, you can get your hands on the re-released version of these shoes, only from Size?.

Sneaker store Size?, as part of its ongoing archive collaboration series with Adidas Originals, has been re-releasing Kegler footwear from the Adidas Originals archives. The Kegler Super ‘Yellow/Red’ is a follow-up to the recently released Kegler Super ‘Running Spike’ iteration.

Why the Kegler?

The Kegler Super was first created in 1979 for the German indoor bowling sport Kegeln (a ninepin bowling of sorts). Its innovative peg system was popular at the time, as it allowed the wearer to switch out the pegs in the heel to suit their own cushioning needs. The pair utilized suede across the toe cap to enhance durability when the wearer’s toes dragged across the floor – this same feature can also be found in the re-released versions of the shoes.

The bold ‘Red/Yellow’ colorway takes inspiration from the made in Japan ‘Athens’ from the late ’80s/early ’90s. The silhouette’s standout style and two-tone color combination has been cemented in Adidas folklore through the years, and here, it blends seamlessly onto the uppers of the Kegler Super.

The same brushed bright red suede is used on the uppers, overlaid with contrasting yellow leather to the signature three stripes and heel tab. Signing things off, a classic two-tone hexagonal outsole is positioned underfoot, giving the wearer tailored traction to the surface.

The Size? exclusive Adidas Originals Archive Kegler Super ‘Red/Yellow’ will be available via the Size? previews app and in all Size? stores on Friday, March 1, priced at £85 (approx. S$150).
