An icon in sneaker culture: The cultural significance of the Air Jordan 11

History of the Defining Moments Pack

The inaugural “Defining Moments Pack” was released in January 2006, marking Jordan Brand’s debut into multi-shoe collections. Priced at approximately S$402 (US$295), the two-sneaker pack paid homage to the sneakers worn by Michael Jordan during the first championship of his two three-peats and featured gold accents on each shoe.

The Air Jordan 6 and 11 came in a package that included commemorative dog tags related to the championship represented by each shoe, a booklet, and was presented in a deluxe two-tier golden box that elegantly slid out and unfolded like a book, unveiling the sneakers inside.

Everything about the Air Jordan 11 ‘Gratitude’

While the 2023 Air Jordan 11 ‘Gratitude’ retains a striking resemblance to its highly cherished predecessor, there is a notable alteration to the design. Instead of employing mesh, the white sections of the shoe are now entirely crafted from tumbled leather, resulting in a sturdier and more premium feel to the upper.

Additionally, the outsole has been given a slightly aged, yellowed appearance. However, the remainder of the shoe remains remarkably faithful to the original design, featuring a black patent leather mudguard and gold-accented branding.

The Nike Air Jordan 11 ‘Gratitude’ is expected to be released on December 9 for US$230 (approx S$313). Stay tuned for more updates.
