ASICS Tiger breathes life into one of its most iconic silhouettes with the new GEL-KAYANO TRAINER KNIT.
The predecessor
The popularity of the GEL-KAYANO TRAINER, ASICS Tiger’s flagship performance and running shoe, has stood the test of time due to the comfort and mobility that the shoe provides. Few know this, but the GEL-KAYANO TRAINER was inspired by the shape of the armored shell of stag beetles. And just as the stag beetle is a rare breed, the traits that make up the GEL-KAYANO TRAINER puts the shoe in a league of its own.
Rebirth of an icon
This month, ASICS Tiger introduces the GEL-KAYANO TRAINER KNIT and the GEL-KAYANO TRAINER KNIT MT, both timely updates of the flagship model. Old is gold, so the shoes retain key features of its iconic predecessor, all housed in sleeker, more modern silhouettes that’s great for work and play.
The key difference in both new models lies in the upper, which now comes in a stretch knit material developed at the ASICS Institute of Sports Science in Kobe, Japan. The fabric wraps the food in a custom, sock-like fit that takes the comfort factor quite a few notches higher.
A molded TPU cage overlay helps to stabilize the structure of the shoe and wards off pesky lint from the knitted outer. TPU, typically a durable material, also gives the sneakers added protection.
The GEL-KAYANO TRAINER KNIT comes in a low top silhouette, while the GEL-KAYANO TRAINER KNIT MT sports a mid top silhouette with a slimming, knitted ankle collar.
The GEL-KAYANO TRAINER KNIT comes in 12 colorways: All-White, All-Black, Birch, Agave Green, Bleached Apricot, Viridian Green/Black, Peach, Bay, White/Silver, Black/Silver, Navy/Black, Aluminium. The MT comes in White or Black.
The GEL-KAYANO TRAINER KNIT (both standard and MT versions) debuts today, 24th February. Available in sizes 6 to 12.
