Footwear drops: Travis Scott and Jordan Brand conclude strong month for Nike

The highly anticipated launch of the Air Jordan 1 High Pine Green this week surely caps off the month of February with a bang.

Taking advantage of the leap year, Nike even manages to squeeze in some highly covetable releases on February 29.

Jordan Brand’s new color-blocking variation of the Air Jordan 1 High Pine Green undoubtedly takes the spotlight in this week’s roundup. But with Travis Scott’s much raved about Nike SB collaboration also releasing this week, we’re looking at a tough fight for the top spot given the rapper’s growing influence in the sneaker scene. Rounding up the Nike releases for the month on February 29 is none other than the Air Max 90 bubble pack – the latest variation celebrating the silhouette’s 30th anniversary. While you wait for the weekend’s releases, Asics has laid claim to a spot on the list with a mid-week launch of its glossy sneaker collaboration with German outfit Gmbh. Check out the breakdown of this week’s footwear drops below.

Asics x Gmbh Gel-Nandi 360
February 26

German fashion label Gmbh isn’t done yet with its makeover of Asics’ iconic sneakers. This time, the brand is taking its breath-takingly bold choices to the Gel-Nandi 360. The sneaker’s robust functional qualities comprising the comfortable gel cushioning and ridged rubber outsole for rough terrain meet an equally menacing street-ready outlook. Mesh layers and patent leather glosses the uppers while contrasting cream and grey midsoles round off the collaboration kicks.

Travis Scott x Nike SB Dunk Low
February 29

Travis Scott’s collaboration with Nike SB seemed inevitable when he struck a long-term partnership with Nike. The rapper, who’s often spotted wearing rare Nike SB Dunk Lows, finally has an iteration he can call his own, complete with the Cactus Jack co-branding. Instead of slapping on a new colorway, Travis elected to drape the khaki sneaker in a slew of prints. These include bandana-patterned navy canvas for the overlays and tartan plaid prints on the mid-panels under mismatched black and pink Swooshes. What’s even more interesting is the tear-away nature of the sneaker, which will reveal a brown elephant print underlayer – adding on to the rustic feel from the rope laces. It won’t be easy trying to cop a pair but there’s no harm in taking your chances.

Air Jordan 1 High Pine Green
February 29

The Air Jordan 1 High Pine Green colorway makes a highly anticipated comeback this year. The 2020 edition will likely be coveted by fans of Jordan Brand, not least due to the color blocking variation that mimics the iconic Bred and Royal pairs. You can almost feel the grain from the premium tumbled leathers just by looking at the image above. But Jordan Brand has gone a step further with this one, adding a leather patch of the Wings logo to replace the customary stamped version.

Nike Air Max 90 bubble pack
February 29

As a play on Nike’s famous “Air” technology, the brand drives home the significance of the feature with a new Air Max “bubble pack”. The star of the pack is none other than the marquee silhouette of 2020 – the Air Max 90. If you’re an Air Max fan, then this pair layered with bubble-wrap on the uppers and iridescent panels will surely hit home.
