Instagram will introduce Instagram Live and more updates to Instagram Direct.
Earlier today, Instagram officially announced the addition of two new features: private live video streaming and private photos and videos that disappear after being viewed.
Unlike Facebook and Twitter, Instagram aims to make its live streaming experience more intimate by removing all traces of the broadcast once streaming ends.
To make things cushier, Instagram will only stream live videos to users whom you frequently interact with. Additionally, it will provide users options to prevent blocked accounts from accessing their live streams.
Instagram will also include new improvements to its private messaging feature, Instagram Direct. Much like Snapchat, Instagram Direct allows users to send pictures and videos to select friends. Users will also get to decorate and edit their pictures using a variety of filters and doodles. Sounds eerily like Snapchat?
Instagram Direct photos and videos are designed to disappear and users will be informed of the people who have screenshot their Instagram Direct photos.
Looks like Snapchat is in for a real fight. According to the social media giant, Instagram Direct currently has 300 million users globally.
Instagram Live will be available for use in several weeks whilst the newly updated Instagram Direct is set to roll out today.
