Nike is bringing back the Kobe 6 Grinch which was first unveiled back in 2010. The protros will sport a near-identical colorway and construction. Lime green snakeskin fabric stretches from the toe box to the heel, bearing a print-on black Swoosh. It is connected to a mesh and plastic heel cage, both of which come in a pastel green color.
At first, it may seem like the green midsole is exactly the same as the OG sneaker. However, as its protro name suggests, the midsole has been updated with Nike’s latest performance technology. The updated midsole will come with Zoom Turbo units in the forefoot and is encased in a softer foam. This offers better responsiveness and cushioning when used on court.
The Kobe 6 Protro Grinch was originally meant to be an ode to the green mamba snake, a play on the late Kobe Bryant’s on-court nickname. But because the sneaker was unveiled on Christmas Day in 2010 during Bryant’s match against the Miami Heat, the reptilian colorway was quickly renamed the “Grinch” by fans due to its striking resemblance to the Christmas antagonist.
