Nike isn’t one to shy away from ambitious creations and its sole-swapping endeavors have been nothing but popular. The latest addition to its list of hybrids, the Nike Air Max 90/1, showcases the humble beginnings of the Air-Sole unit.
Forget the Air Vapormax 97, the Sean Wotherspoon Air Max 1/97, and the Air Max 97 Plus, it’s the dreamy combination that is the Nike Air Max 90/1 that OG Air Max fans should be chasing.
The beginning
Nike’s Air-Sole unit was first introduced in 1987 in the form of the Air Max 1 in University Red. Revolutionary at the time as it features visible air in its heel. Three years later, the swoosh debuted the Air Max 90 sporting an upgraded Air-Sole unit with a larger visible air window. The rest as you know is history. These two models are icons of the Air Max line and remain popular to this day. A hybrid iteration coupled with the AM1’s OG colorway? It just doesn’t get any better than that. Peep the details below to find out how you can get your hands on a pair.
