Nike athletes Lelisa Desisa, Zersenay Tadase, and Eliud Kipchoge will attempt to complete the Nike Breaking2 marathon.

According to Nike’s press release, the current marathon record sits at 2 hours, 2 minutes, and 57 seconds. Nike is planning on setting a new record of 1 hour, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds – shaving off a whole three minutes.

Nike’s formula for tackling the marathon is to start off with fast runners Desisa, Tadase, and Kipchoge. But fast athletes aren’t all it takes to conquer a marathon. Nike is also testing out its latest high-tech running shoe, the Nike Zoom VaporFly Elite, on its three runners.

The Breaking2 marathon is set to take place on Saturday, May 6. Those interested in watching the marathon can do so by signing up here for notification reminders. Additionally, the race will also be broadcasted on Nike’s Breaking2 Facebook page and Twitter.
