The Nike Dunk High Varsity Purple, which drops on December as a women’s exclusive sneaker, mirrors the Dunk from the 1999 Japan-exclusive “City Attack” pack.
The Dunk High Varsity Purple, much like the college-inspired Dunks that released this year, arrives with a white smooth leather base couple with purple Swoosh and leather overlays. To remind onlookers that these Dunks are special, the sneaker gets a shimmery gold embroidered Nike Air tab at the top of the tongue. It perfectly replicates the tongue tab seen on its 1999 predecessor.
To differentiate the OG from the re-release, the 2020 Nike Dunk High Varsity Purples comes with a translucent outsole and shiny laces. Looking into the sneaker, the sock liner comes in a satin purple to match the laces. These small and subtle design cues help soften the sneaker’s design without distorting the retro looks.
