Kobe 5 Proto “5 Rings” returns this week after a decade off-court

The Nike Kobe 5 Protro “5 Rings” that drops on October 1 is an updated take on the 2010 release.

The Nike Kobe 5 Proto “5 Rings” first dropped in 2010 to commemorate Kobe Bryant’s fifth NBA championship win that year. This week, the sneaker comes updated.

As its namesake suggests, the revised Nike Kobe 5 Protro “5 Rings” comes with a full purple Concords upper embellished with yellow laser-etched detailing which spells out “5 Rings”.

Completing the upper are the yellow Swooshes on the sides, the Kobe logo on the tongue and signature on the heel cap and gradient midsole.

Unlike the 2010 release, this Kobe 5 Protro will come with a Zoom midsole set up. Gone is the forefoot Met Zoom Air unit, which has been replaced by Zoom Turbo. This provides the cushioning of Zoom Air throughout the entire forefoot.

The Nike Kobe 5 “5 Rings” drops on October 1 and does more than commemorate Kobe’s championship wins—it celebrates his legacy on the NBA courts.
