The Nike Kobe A.D. are inspired by color psychology.
Purple reflects fearlessness, while the red symbolizes passion. Bryant equates yellow to optimism and honesty, while the gray represents calm neutrality. Last but not least, blue represents dependability and trust.
Aesthetics aside, the shoes come equipped with the same Nike tech – a multilayer upper with a mixed Lunarlon foam and Zoom Air midsole for better cushioning and responsiveness. To provide players with better traction on the court, the shoes have also been fitted with treaded outsoles.
According to Nike, these five shoes will be released globally August 24. The date is a nod to Bryant’s uniform numbers.
