Known as one of the most prized SB Dunks from the 2000s, the Nike SB Dunk Low “Raygun” is finally making a return! The grail is being revived with an interesting update that perfectly sums up the look of 2019.
Inspired by the Roswell Raygun, a fantasy ABA team created by Nike for the 2002 NBA Playoffs, the Nike SB Dunk Low “Raygun” quickly rose to fame when it was named the favorite sneaker of Nike SB Dunk founder Sandy Bodecker. He was known to wear tie-dye Raygun hoodies quite often, and when he passed in 2018, the Nike SB team decided to create this sneaker as a tribute to the legend himself.
In his memory, Nike SB will be releasing two variants of the sneaker – a white “Home” and black “Away” colorway. However, the color blocking for both sneakers is pretty similar. The tie-dye graphics are printed onto the leather, at the quarter panels, heel counters, heel tabs, and insoles.
Aside from the tie-dye update and a “58” tag on the backside of the tongue tabs, everything else is untouched. This includes the signature yellow and orange color blocking and alien graphic on the heels of the sneaker.
The black colorway will drop on the Nike SNKRS site in a family size run, with the white colorway being exclusive to selected skate shops. The sneaker will drop on December 27 at 10 am (Singapore time).
