The Air Max 1 Premium QS “Atmos-Safari” first dropped in 2016 and quickly became a streetwear grail. The sneaker brought something never before seen on an Air Max 1 – brown leather, orange suede and elephant print. This Atmos drop was so successful, they have continued to release animal packs over the last couple of years. The new Nike SB Dunk Low “Safari” borrows the color blocking of the original Atmos x Nike Air Max 1, creating a wild sneaker you can skate in.
The sneaker’s uppers come in a brown canvas base with elephant print panels around the toe box, eyelets and heel. At the toe box, on the lateral side, the sneaker gets a mini Swoosh in black. More Swooshes – in yellow and green respectively — can be found on the lateral and medial sides of the sneaker.
The sock liner and insoles come in a darker shade of brown, with the “Nike SB Zoom Air” print in dark green. The pull tab is made from brown suede and has an embroidered Nike Swoosh rather than the usual Nike text. The SB trademark fat tongue comes in full black with a green tongue tab. The uppers sit atop off-white midsoles and light brown outsoles.
As a whole, Nike has done an amazing job translating the Air Max 1 design over to the Nike SB Dunk Low “Safari”. At the moment, the sneaker is slated for a drop at select retailers (likely skate shops) and StockX. The price has been set at US$100 (approx. S$139.94).
