This year, the rapper utilizes the Air Max 97 again, but just the midsole this time; combining that with an Air Max BW upper to create the Nike x Skepta Air Max 97 BW. The collaboration has seen plenty of leaks across social media platforms, but it has now been confirmed to drop this Saturday, May 19.
The sneaker comes in a clean white upper with touches of one other color added to each side of the shoe. The left pair of the sneaker features the color blue on the Air Max bubble as well as on the lateral Swoosh that extends and wraps around the heel right to the medial Swoosh. The same goes for the right pair with the only difference being the color red in place of blue.
According to Nike, Skepta chose the Air Max BW as he was inspired by London rapper, Dizzee Rascal, who sported a pair of those on his first album cover, Boy in da Corner (2003).
“When I was younger, Air Max was the shoe to flex in. The bigger your air bubble — you’ve got a big air bubble and everyone can see that. The BWs…it’s funny it’s called Big Window.”
The sneaker is a follow-up to his first collaboration sneaker dubbed the Skepta x Air Max 97, which dropped September last year.
