Sneaker designer Sekure D launches the Dekade with Rooy

Sekure D releases his debut sneaker, the Dekade, in partnership with Rooy Sneakers.

Lowtop in White

Aussie sneaker customizer Sekure D puts on his designer hat with the launch of the Dekade.

The Dekade is a collaboration between sneaker customizer-turned-designer Sekure D and Rooy, a lifestyle sneaker company based in Seattle. The first signature line in the company’s history, the Dekade will be made on a direct-to-consumer basis, meaning the number of orders will dictate how many sneakers are produced. However, there will only be 14 pairs per colorway of the Dekade sneaker for this initial release. There will be no chance to pick this up in a mall. Think Kickstarter but for sneakers, custom made for you – something Sekure D is familiar with.

Sekure D, real name Mathew Fabris, is an Australian sneaker customizer who paints on almost any sneaker. From Jordan 6s to Puma football boots, he has made some of the most detailed customs you have seen to date. Fabris has been customizing kicks since 2005. 13 years later, he has his very own signature sneaker.

The Dekade is a lifestyle sneaker that will come in a lowtop and hightop iteration, the Dekade low and Dekade high, with each being offered in two colorways. The lowtops are being kept timeless with tonal black and white color schemes while the hightops will feature additional speckle details, a nod to Sekure D’s graffiti background. With leather panels for the uppers, the Dekade can be worn by anyone, at any time, with anything. Branding is minimal on the sneaker except for the Rooy logo on the tongues and Sekure D’s signature on the sole. The designer has cheekily noted that he relishes the idea of his signature being stamped on soft ground. Each sneaker will also come with lacelocks from LaceSpace and a numbered certificate of purchase.By keeping the silhouette simple and clean, Sekure D embraces the fact people will customize the sneaker and put their own twist on them.

The Dekade will be a “Friends & Family” release, with only 14 pairs available for each colorway. The Dekade will launch on January 12 on Sekure D’s bigcartel page for Australian buyers and on Rooy’s website for those based outside Australia. The lowtops will retail for US$95 (approx. S$120) and the hightops for US$110 (approx. S$148).
