For the Spongebob x Vans collection, the skate brand engaged New York fashion designer Sandy Liang to create an extensive collection consisting of sneakers, apparel and accessories that would incorporate images and characters from the Nickelodeon hit cartoon.
For the whole family: Just like the cartoon, the Spongebob x Vans collection will have pieces for fans of all ages – men, women and kids.
Notable pieces include an Old Skool sneaker with a checkerboard print featured Spongebob Squarepants and Gary, tees with graphics paying homage to special episodes and a mini backpack inspired by Patrick.
Two Sk8-Hi 38 Dx are part of the collection, one inspired by Spongebob and the other, Sandy Cheeks. The Spongebob pair gets a patchwork design that combines the iconic flower cloud print from the show and patterns inspired by Liang’s Chinese heritage. On the Sandy Cheeks pair, the entire upper comes in a soft gradient print complete with floral appliques. Both sneakers get embroidered images of their respective characters on the heel.
