The Y-3 x Real Madrid Matchwear collection once again brings together the two titans of fashion and football. After the release of a travel collection earlier this month, the two names have worked together to create this Matchwear collection – a tribute to both Y-3 and Real Madrid iconography past and present. The collection is brought to life by modern-day Real Madrid icons including Naomie Feller, Jude Bellingham, David Alaba, and Misa Rodríguez, each representing the future of the club and acting as the driving force behind its continued unmatched sporting legacy.
The new premium range centers around a sketch-like rose motif, which those familiar with the long-standing partnership will recognize as an homage to the early days of the Yohji Yamamoto x Adidas collaborative relationship.
The kits
The collection itself comprises a purple 4th kit for both men’s and women’s teams, constructed from moisture-wicking HEAT-RDY tech, plus two goalkeeper kits – black and orange respectively – as well as a white pre-match kit including a top, shorts and an anthem jacket. The color palette is selected from key shades within the club’s DNA, with their choice of purple dating back to the 1930s.
From the pitch to the terraces, the collection provides fans with standout items including a T-shirt, hoodie, cross-body bag, cap and scarf for a complete look on game day and beyond.
Predator boots
The limited-edition Y-3 x Adidas Predator boots is a major highlight of the collection. The iconic silhouette is given the Yohji Yamamoto treatment with a monochromatic colorway and the designer’s signature sign-off on the tongue and outsole. The boots have already been spotted during training sessions and are sure to make an appearance pitch-side soon.
Y-3 history
Fans of Yohji Yamamoto will be well-versed in the Japanese designer’s history of working with Adidas. Y-3 was founded in 2002, the result of the singular artistic vision of Yamamoto coupled with the innovative spirit of Adidas – the Y nods to the former’s initials, while the 3 is a tribute to Adidas’ iconic 3-stripe motif. It established the category of premium fashion sportswear and continues to be a key player in the space.
The Y-3 x Real Madrid Matchwear collection drops in Singapore on March 27 and is available online on Adidas.sg, on the app and at Adidas Brand Centre Orchard (next to Apple Store). The Y-3 x Adidas Predator boot will retail for S$499 at Weston.com.sg.
