5 Tracks for This Week’s Grind: Kiat, Kllo, Blackbear and More

Feeling a little down this week? Here are some tracks from amazing artists like Blackbear, Kilo and Kiat that will perk you right back up.

1) Kiat, “Pulse”

A track off Kiat’s second album, a follow-up to his applaudable work released in 2012. Known for his bass-driven music, Kiat pushes the envelope with a spinoff from his usual song arrangements. In “Pulse”, you’re get a sense of heady escapism, especially when the accompanying video, a creation by Brandon Tay, uses minimal graphic elements to create an immersive experience.

2) Khai, “Alive”

We have given love to Khai aka Justin Abokhai before, but those were for his collaborative tracks. This is a standalone song, and boy is it a hidden treasure. His tender voice has a weight to it that holds you down and keeps you rooted through the length of the track. This is the perfect fit for a melancholic summer’s day.

3) Blackbear, “Dead Roses”

A signature track from Blackbear’s 2015 album, “Dead Roses” fuses EDM elements with ballad-like lyrics, giving the backing melody that perfect balance between moody and catchy. Blackbear may be a newbie in the world of music, but he’s blessed us with nothing but pitch-perfect tunes so far.

4) Kllo, “Walls To Build”

Talk about a fresh drop. Australian duo Kllo just released this track a day ago and they’re already getting mad love over at their SoundCloud account. The production, combined with dreamy vocals, results in a smooth, groovy track that’s great for winding down to after a long, hard day.

5) L.A., “HeadRaps”

New York MC Latasha Alcindor (or “L.A.” for short) provides us with a video for her hard-hitting, bass heavy and infectious track, “HeadRaps”. She takes a tour around Brooklyn and keeps viewers on their toes, with impromptu dancing alongside her witty wordplay. Great for those bitten by the wanderlust bug.
