Launching on September 10th, adidas Athletics is the sportswear brand’s foray into athleisure apparel.
Only one product — the adidas Z.N.E. (“Zero Negative Energy”) Hoodie (€90) — has been unveiled for now, but its features blur the line between technical sportswear and lifestyle apparel.
Take for instance, the over-sized hood that can accommodate headphones, its “Made 2 Move” seam construction and dropped shoulder design, or even the hidden zipper pockets to keep personal items while on the go.
These, combined with minimalist aesthetics and a cotton/polyester/elastane blend of materials, make the hoodie equally suitable for a pre-game warm-up or a day in town.
Business Insider points out that adidas Athletics could be a response to the successful Nike Sportswear range, which also features “additional detailing like reflective tape, additional pockets, advanced blends of materials used, and stylish design”.
Adidas, which has been Nike’s competitor for the longest time, has made strides in the footwear market, and now looks to be a serious contender in today’s sports lifestyle segment too.
