Singapore’s Home of Sport gets hyper local with art

Through murals, light and art installations, these Singaporean artists are adding hyper local touches to the largest adidas flagship Performance store located at VivoCity Singapore which opens on April 10.

Besides dropping a heart-thumping anthem and unveiling exclusive MakerLab customization options, adidas has also engaged Ink and Clog,  Space Objekt and Aeropalmics to create hyper local signatures and art installations to accentuate the new VivoCity Singapore flagship store. Each artist homes in on a section of the store, creating art pieces that represent the sporting culture of the +65.

Ink and Clog

Known for their murals that have adorned the cities of  London, Japan, Korea, Australia, Mexico, United States, Hong Kong and parts of South East Asia, Ink and Clog, composed of artists Inkten and Clogtwo, showcase their interpretation of Singapore and its sports culture with the adidas flagship Performance store as its latest canvas. A seasoned collaborator with The Three Stripes, Clogtwo previously created murals and custom sneakers for the launch of the adidas Originals VivoCity flagship.

Ink and Clog’s designs utilize geometric shapes and graphic designs to create a systematic and clean look that replicates Singapore’s futuristic cityscape. Their use of hexagonal shapes alludes to the unity among Singaporeans that has enabled the rapid development of the city-state.

Space Objekt

Space Objekt, a spatial design duo comprising Ash Razaque and Tina Fung, uses space, lights and visuals to create larger-than-life immersive experiences that have earned them recognition from organizations like TEDx. Together with adidas, Space Objekt creates a futuristic sculptural centerpiece that draws inspiration from one of our most iconic sport venues – the National Stadium. A sight to behold, the installation changes colors to reflect the diversity of sports in Singapore.

Aeropalmics

Besides creating custom designs for MakerLab, Aeropalmics applies her playful designs to the store’s fitting rooms. Her creation features abstract motifs developed from the shapes of elements associated with sports such as lines or balls. The combination of abstract background and athletic imagery in the foreground replicate the movement associated with sports and represents the cityscape that surrounds our spaces for play.

The new adidas performance flagship store, located at #01-73/87 Vivocity Singapore, will be fully stocked with a wide array of Three Stripes performance apparel, footwear and accessories. When it opens on April 10, the store will host MakerLab customization sessions, local art displays and performance workshops to meet all athletes’ needs.
