The deal between Under Armour and the “Antidote” singer was first reported in July 2017, but it took the brand months to confirm its latest ambassador. The news was officially announced on Under Armour’s Instagram and Twitter page last Friday, September 15.
As reported previously, the musician will be working on UA’s Sportswear line, which includes both apparel and sneakers. Hot New Hip Hop reports that the deal might also extend to the brand’s performance range.
As part of the joint deal, Under Armour will also provide impoverished youths in America with community programs ranging from “art and fashion, to sports”.
“I wanted more than a collaboration partner,” said ASAP Rocky in a UA press release. “The only way to achieve this is with someone who is like-minded. The Under Armour team, and especially CEO and founder Kevin Plank, has a shared vision, enthusiasm, and desire to do the same.”
“I grew up in Harlem and had limited resources to channel my inner-creativity, so I spent too much time on the streets when I should have been more productive,” the rapper added. “I now have the ability to create a better situation for today’s kids so they can go from school to a safe place to create without boundaries.”
No word on when the collaborative sneakers and apparel will arrive so keep a lookout for more information on Under Armour’s Instagram page.
