Fragment gives Sacai’s LDWaffle the old school touch

Hiroshi Fujiwara and Chitose Abe, founders of Fragment Design and Sacai respectively, have come together to put an old school spin on the Nike LDWaffle.

The Fragment x Sacai x Nike LDWaffle merges the design sensibilities of both creators. The silhouette itself was first created by Abe while the two new colorways embody Fujiwara’s preference for simple, timeless materials and colors.

Gone are the transparent mesh panels that form the base of the LDWaffle. Instead, we get a familiar soft mesh base that is used on most classic runners.

Reinforcing the heel and lace eyelets are soft hairy suede panels, another nod to classic Nike running shoes. Completing its retro transformation are leather double Swooshes on the midfoot of the sneaker.

Fujiwara adds his final touches with tech spec prints on the heel of the sneaker and his lightning logo on the tongue tab.
