CASIO’s new G-SHOCK 2500 series carries the spirit of the first-ever G-SHOCK onto an analog dial. Here’s a closer look at the GAC-2500, GMC-2500 and GMC-2500D, and how you can pick one up in Singapore from November 7!

Why is the G-SHOCK 2500 series special?

G-SHOCK made its debut in 1983 with the DW-5000C, a watch built to resist gravitational shock. Since then, the brand has kept evolving while keeping shock-resistant construction at its core. The G-SHOCK 2500 series honours that tough DNA and its iconic silhouette, but reshapes it with softer, more rounded contours. The campaign, titled “Toughness, Refined”, was created with creative direction from Tokyo-based artist YOSHIROTTEN, and its visuals play with lightness and freedom from gravity.

G-SHOCK goes analog, minus the fuss

With no digital display, the 2500 series is all about reading the time at a glance. The face centres on Multi-Mission Date, a three-cell window at the 3 o’clock position that shifts between the date, mode, stopwatch minutes and setting information depending on the function in use. Set the year, month and day once, and it keeps a fully automatic calendar through 2099.

The small seconds hand has a SHOCK RESIST mark on its tail, a nod to where G-SHOCK started. The date window is colour-matched to the dial to reduce contrast, so the time stays the star of the show.

Toughness hasn’t been left behind, either. The minute hand uses a magnetic holding structure instead of being fixed to the shaft, which lets it absorb and disperse impact. There’s also a second-hand sleep function that stops the small seconds hand at any time to save power and extend battery life.
