Not many sneakerheads may know this, but Hiroshi Fujiwara of Fragment could have taken Virgil Abloh’s place in the game-changing “The Ten” collection. A project by Nike, “The Ten” collection took ten of their most recognizable sneakers and reimagined them through the lens of a high fashion designer. Through an Instagram post, we may have gotten a sneak peek at the Hiroshi Fujiwara “The Ten” collection.
On Instagram, he posted a sample of the Hiroshi Fujiwara x Nike Air Max 1. The sneaker reworks the traditional format of the ’87 runner. For one, the upper is simpler and clean – just two-tone suede panels recreating the iconic mudguard but without any complexity.
This upper can be tightened with a wide lacing set up. We have seen something similar on the Off-White x Nike Vapor Street – Virgil seems to have been inspired by Hiroshi Fujiwara. The suede upper sits atop a blacked-out midsole with technical specs printed above the air unit.
Overall, the sneaker is super clean and his “The Ten” collection could have been a source of inspiration for Virgil Abloh’s creations. Though Hiroshi Fujiwara has not released any sneakers with The Swoosh, he has been working on a collaboration with Moncler and Converse. You can check it out here.
