Unbeknownst to the folks residing at Everton Park, a party was just getting started at the Redundant Shop’s Back Door Access on the evening of Friday, July 25th . Besides the usual array of goods displayed in the shop, those who made their way down were treated to the sight of a majestic cardboard wolf taking center-stage the moment they stepped foot into the premises.

The piece-by-piece installation, along with ceramic skulls on display, were created by Mexican designer Guillermo Juarez, who visited Singapore for the first time. One half of design studio Cazapapeles, the soft spoken Guillermo took to the mic and spoke about the inspiration behind his work.

The humble designer proceeded to give a live demonstration to those in attendance, completing work on a half-finished wolf under many curious eyes. Those who fancied doing a bit of handicraft themselves had the opportunity to sit in with Guillermo as he spent the rest of the evening teaching and sharing the intricacies of paper folding.

Under Guillermo’s tutelage, many were able to create their own folding paper mask

Of course, no event is complete without good music, and Reuben Raj aka SomeBizarreMonkey took care of that by hitting the decks with his crew. The good people at Elite Bar Solutions were also present to tirelessly serve up superb concoctions, with Reyka Vodka as the staple of each drink.

All in all, it was a great night to unwind, mingle and gain a greater appreciation for design.
