It would be a gross understatement to say that Sole Superior SG was just a moderate success. Our team was overwhelmed by the sheer number of sneakerheads from around the region streaming into Zouk for Singapore’s first sneaker convention.
The skies must have been jealous because even though it rained cats and dogs, people were still undaunted and were determined to enter sneaker heaven. Word is people came as early as 7am to join the line. We spotted families (with kids) decked out in streetwear and sneakers, ready to enjoy a Saturday of unique family fun at the convention.
Sneaker buyers, sellers and traders packed every inch of Zouk and were blown away by the numerous offerings by vendors as well as music performances by local artists such as weish and Intriguant. There was just so much to see, from the big giants like Nike, Reebok and Adidas all the way to local vendors Supershades and The General Store. Mr. Sabotage and his team were also present to showcase works from their custom sneaker workshops.
Many even found an avenue to express their creativity, with Nike bringing three talented designers, Ee Shaun, David Low and Doralin Kelly to produce illustrative artworks of its Air Max based on any participant’s custom design. Despite the jostling crowd, the community spirit of the attendees was strong as we spied countless like-minded individuals and groups mingling and getting excited over new sneaker releases.
There’s just too much to say, so we’ll let the pictures do the talking instead. Enjoy!
(Psst…We hear the organizers are planning an even bigger, better Sole Superior, and we can’t wait to be part of this experience again. Stay tuned with us for the latest news! You can also watch the highlights of the event here.)
