You Can Now Upload Photos Through Instagram’s Mobile Site

Instagram users no longer need to open the app to upload photos.

Instagram is rolling out a new feature that lets you upload photos through its mobile website.

This means that you don’t necessarily need the Instagram application on your phone. Instead, you can use the web version of Instagram on your mobile browser to upload your photos. However, this option doesn’t allow you to upload videos, add filters, update your Stories or send a direct message.

The photo editing options are limited too, as you’re only able to rotate the photos or switch between a square or wide crop. However, we can see how this option is perfect for those who want to build a profile without wasting time on further edits. A condensed version of the Explore page is also available on the mobile site.

According to TechCrunch, the company has been testing this functionality since March. They told TechCrunch that the mobile site is “designed to help people have a fuller experience on Instagram no matter what device or network they are on”.

It has been noted that Instagram currently has no plans on modifying its desktop version, so photo uploading through the site will only be available for phones and tablets at the moment.
