Fast facts about Arabyrd (KL), headliner for the upcoming SELF-MADE party this Saturday, May 28th, at Refuge.
Arafah Edruce was at her desk at work when the Worldwide Festival organizers called to ask how she would like to be named on the bill. She was sitting next to a colleague who used to call her “birdie”, so she cooked up the name “Arabird” on the spot. The organizers replaced the “i” with a “y” because it suited the font they were using, and the rest as they say, is history. (source)
Arabyrd has performed with Diplo and opened for Beastie Boys at Good Vibrations Singapore as well as Wu Tang Clan at Future Music Festival Asia.
This was Arabyrd in Maldives three weeks ago. There are a ton of photos on her Instagram of her living it up under the sun, surrounded by sand and sea.
Anytime she’s not performing or making an appearance at fashion gigs, Arabyrd is kicking fitness in the ass.
Arabyrd does solo gigs, but she also performs as part of a duo, Twinkies, along with DJ Nadia (KL). The girls have played in cities like Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, and Sydney. Maybe Singapore next? Who knows, huh?
To see Arabyrd live in action, RSVP for this Saturday’s edition of SELF-MADE. Free entry before midnight.
