This week has been a crazy weather pattern of blazing heat with sudden showers. If that’s been putting you to sleep, here’s a mix containing hits from Goldlink, Soulmind and more to get your mood right back up.
23-year-old rapper Goldlink is becoming one of our favorite young artists out there. Previously featured here, the XXL Freshman is back with another house-infused jam courtesy of producer Louie Lastic, whom he has been working with frequently. The track starts off with a recording of a girl speaking in Tagalog, but fret not, we’ve got the translation here. The track features a spaced out sample from Missy Elliott’s “She’s A Bitch” and the good people over at 88Rising made accompanying visuals, starring acclaimed dancer Brian Puspos taking part in a three-way dance battle.
If you’re still feeling dazed after the first track, this one will wake you up for sure. 18 minutes of bass-heavy music that switches between seven different sub-genres will get you up and moving in no time. Brought to you by the resident DJ of Berlin’s premier club Gretchen, this mix is a smooth, harmonic concoction of UK bass, instrumental hip-hop and new school rap.
R-ASH isn’t just your average French DJ, he’s also a prodigy who started working the turntables at the tender age of five and brought home his very first championship at 14. A couple of years later, he started hosting his own parties in prestigious clubs in Paris. Even esteemed DJs like Diplo and Ta-Ku have shown R-ASH love. “CRVZY” has Jersey club music inclinations, and it’s a track we can imagine being played in clubs here.
The mysterious trio that made it to our list sometime back returns with a remix of their original track, “Say So”. They’ve linked up with producer Vasco to turn the track into a heady, synth-crazy joyous mess that demands to be played on loop.
Pac Div member LIKE has been putting in the hard work since the crew’s last release. He’s been relentlessly producing, and even has a track on K.Dot’s Good Kid, M.A.A.D City to add to his resume. “Miss Me With That” is a track off his own debut album, Songs Made While High, and it goes to show that he’s equally talented at spitting bars as he is at producing.
Tira Lee is Straatosphere’s resident aux cord heaux. She’s in-charge of pulling together nifty mixes each week to spread dope tracks and good vibes to the public. In her free time, she partakes in something distressingly referred to as academia and often experiences an existential crisis of sorts. She’s also paid to put pretty clothes on pretty people sometimes.
