We got to check out Dover Street Market’s revamped store for their AW’19 collection and it was just straight up heat. They have brought in a bunch of new hyped pieces, some more advant-garde, and a new storefront installation specifically chosen by Rei Kawakubo.
Here are some of the new items and installations you should definitely check out.
Comme des Garçons
It’s hard to miss the Commes des Garçons presence at the entrance of the store. Replete with a giant black statue, the installation contrasts the hard lines of the racks with the soft flow of the apparel. The apparel from the recent CDG collection focuses more on fabrics and cuts while sticking to monochrome black.
On the polarising end of the spectrum, CDG has set up a second installation that showcases their latest apparel: a mix of colorful, comic art inspired T-shirts mixed with black, punk outfits. The contrast is intended to highlight the fun and joy that can come from dark spaces, by playing with differing cuts, materials, and accessories.
CDG Play
DSM is stocking two new prints featuring the new CDG Play logo. As a take on the original, the new logo features two hearts – one small, the other big. The designs are available in both long sleeved and short sleeved tees, in both grey and red.
Along with the grey and red T-shirts are accessories reminiscent of the Supreme x LV collab. We’ve got our eye on a wallet we plan to cop.
Nike x Stranger Things
A collab between Nike and the 80s-love-note Netflix show Stranger Things brings a collection of Nike staples from that bygone era. DSM has brought in the Air Tailwind and Cortez from the collaboration to help you step back into the summer of ’85. The sneakers feature custom colors reflecting Hawkins High School and the popular colorways of the era, including one that is reminiscent of the Forrest Gump Cortez.

T-shirt bar
At the back of the house, there is a new T-shirt bar that features a bunch of new brands curated for this season. This includes brands like Aries, Awake and Bianca Chandon to name a few. From simple, monotone designs to full acid wash tees, there is a variety of designs to fit any taste or outfit. It’s worth checking out to find a new brand to fall in love with.
Gucci x Dover Street Market
The Gucci x DSM collection is primarily streetwear- and tennis-inspired. Beyond the usual Gucci Rhyton, they have brought in Gucci Sandals and Hicker Sneakers that work with the bright colors of the new collection.
The exclusive collection to DSM features denim jackets and dresses with the DSM logo embroidered onto the pieces. I must admit, they do not in any way seem like an afterthought. The DSM logo fits perfectly and thoughtfully into the designs – the dress in the collection bears the logo in hand-stitched sequins. Check this collection out if you are looking for something more exclusive from the Italian designer.
As is usual with DSM, keep an eye out for items with the red tag – hidden gems that are exclusive to the store. Dover Street Market’s AW’19 curation brings nothing but heat and can contribute some new pieces to your rotation whatever your style.
