Photos of the 2022 version of the eBay x Nike SB Dunk Lows have emerged. This upcoming release of the 2022 version pays homage to the original 2003 pair – with a twist. Back in 2003, Nike had produced only three models of the eBay Nike SB Dunk Low (03). One was sold for US$26,000 and the second was cut into four separate pieces. The final pair was gifted to the late Sandy Bodecker, ex-VP of Special projects in Nike, in 2008 upon his retirement.
Nike SB brings back the Dunk in honor of Bodecker’s legacy and work. This 2022 version will see its white leather-based contrasted with eBay’s colour palette of green, red, and yellow overlays and blue hue along the panel Swoosh and laces. The pair is then segmented by translucent and clear pieces to reference the OG dismembered pair.
Lastly, to immortalize his legacy, a special tribute was placed on the insole. An image of Bodecker and his son can be seen on the left print on the insole and the dismembered pair on the right. Additional details include the foam tongue tag with #NIKESBFOREVER.
Could this be one of the biggest releases of the year? Known as the Godfather of SB, Bodecker, whose initials are coincidentally also “SB”, spearheaded the Nike SB division and championed skateboarding culture in its early days as VP of Special Projects in Nike. He started the Bodecker Foundation back in 2017 to create financial opportunities for creative youths to achieve their artistic, educational, and professional dreams.
This grail is set for release later this year. The cost of the pair has yet to be disclosed and only 1,500 pairs are available for grabs. It is also reported that the release will be done through eBay auctions to raise funds for the Bodecker Foundation. Stay tuned for more updates.
