Nike Football kicks off 2017 with not one, but two releases of the Hypervenom football boot.
Nike was sure to make good on their promise of making the Hypervenom 3 built for goals with the boot’s strike zone. The strike zone contains multi-layered Poron® foam pods integrated into a Flyknit upper. The pods are 2mm thick, rate-dependent and are hollow, flexible, and designed to mimic the scaly upper of the original Hypervenom boot, first released in 2013.
“We wanted a softened, flexible upper on Hypervenom 3 and knew Flyknit was the best way to achieve this,” Dylan Van Atta, the boot’s designer, explains. “By designing down to the pixel, we’re able to bond the texture only where necessary to keep it supple for comfort and touch.”
For a customizable fit, the Hypervenom 3 has three meters of Nike Flywire cables, as compared to the original Hypervenom which had just one, within floating channels that can be adjusted to preference via the lateral lacing system. Further lateral stability comes from the Hypervenom 3’s new Dynamic Fit Collar, featuring a redesigned agility cuff.
For players who prefer a low-cut boot, Hypervenom 3 is Nike Football’s first boot to feature Flyknit in a low-cut version.
The Nike Hypervenom 3 will be available in Singapore at Nike.com and Weston Corporation on February 2nd, 2017 in the Poison Green/Hyper Orange colorway.
Then there’s the Hypervenom WR250 specially created and designed to celebrate Wayne Rooney’s 250th goal, scored January 21st, just 12 years since joining Manchester United.
The red and white colorway is inspired by the colors of England and Manchester United, with his record-breaking goal tally “250” printed on the tongue of the boot. “WR10,” his squad number, is also featured on the side of the boot.
Rooney will debut the cleats at the next Manchester United match.
The Nike Hypervenom WR250 football boots were released in a limited quantity yesterday, January 23rd. No updates about a Singapore release yet, but keep your fingers crossed.
